Serving Up a Sweet Pre-Prom Tradition
TV Catering hosts TV High School’s annual pre-prom dinner
At the end of April, the TV High School (GHS) held its annual prom dance for Junior and Senior high students. Before the dance, students enjoyed a dinner hosted by TV Catering, a tradition originating in 2011.
In the first year, the College’s catering team selected the menu, and quickly learned that the students had strong preferences about what they wanted for their prom night. In response, they formed a prom committee made up of GHS students and parent volunteers to help guide menu development, build excitement, and increase attendance each year.
Scott Turley, Director of Dining Services, shared that over time, several menu items have emerged as clear favorites and have become annual traditions. One standout, he says, is the “Fudge Overload” dessert, created specifically for this event. Featuring vanilla ice cream topped with hot fudge, Ghirardelli brownies, whipped cream, and a cherry, it returns every year by popular demand.
Turley concluded, sharing, “My personal goal with this event is simple: there’s no reason students should have to travel outside of TV for a high‑quality pre‑prom dining experience. Hosting the dinner on campus allows students to enjoy a memorable meal close to home while promoting safety on a special and important night.”
The College is happy to be in partnership with TV High School and support TV students in celebrating their prom as a memorable milestone of student accomplishments and connections.
