Amenities
Lounges
Cleveland has three lounges located on the garden level and on the first and third floors. The first floor lounge has a TV, couches, and a whiteboard. The garden level and third floor lounges include seating.
Kitchens
The Cleveland Hall kitchen is located on the garden level. It is equipped with a stove, oven, microwave, and refrigerator.
Storage
Storage space is available in a trunk room on the garden level of Cleveland Hall.
Bathrooms
Eight bathrooms are available throughout the hall. There is one gender-inclusive bathroom and one gender-specific (women's) bathroom on each floor.
Laundry
Residents can use laundry facilities located on the garden level. Facilities include three washers and six dryers.
Computer Lab
A computer lab is located on the first floor of Cleveland Hall. There are six Windows computers, two Macs, and a black-and-white printer.
Recycling
Recycling bins are located on the first floor.
Air Conditioning
Cleveland Hall offers central heating and air conditioning via portable AC units. The Office of Residence Life works with Facilities Management to review the weather and schedule the installation and removal of portable AC. They are usually removed during fall break and re-installed during spring break.
Elevators
Cleveland Hall does not have elevators.
Outdoor Amenities
Outdoor amenities include fire pits and a volleyball court, located on Cleve Beach.
History
Part of the chain of South Campus residence halls, Cleveland Hall was named for Martha A. Cleveland 1867. She became a physician and later married LeRoy Dibble, for whom Dibble Hall was named. Cleveland (which used to be part of the ‘Women’s Quadrangle’) was, upon its dedication in 1915 declared to be "unsurpassed anywhere in the United States in point of completeness, comfort, safety, and elegance" by the Des Moines Register. Cleveland Hall is a gender-specific (women's) hall.
